JOB TITLE: Residential Care Co-ordinator
REPORT TO: Person in charge of the shift
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Manager & Director of Nursing & Care
SPECIFIC TASKS OF RESIDENTIAL CARE CO-ORDINATOR contd.:
b) To take responsibility for the introduction of new Care Assistants when requested by the Manager.
c) Supervise Junior Staff to include:
(i) Assist Assistants to achieve objectives by encouraging them to take a responsible attitude to work and developing their potential.
(ii) To engender within Junior Care staff a sense of loyalty to the group and a feeling of pride in the home and Blanchworth Care.
(iii) To lead, participate in and promote good teamwork and positive working relationships with all colleagues and other professionals who are part of the multi-disciplinary team.
(iv) Inform the Chief Executive of any training needs that have been identified.
(v) Maintain the keyworker system and making sure all keyworkers conform to the Total Quality Assurance System.
(vi) Supervise and evaluate the standard of Care and report any discrepancies to the Manager or person in charge of shift.
d) To liase with the continence advisor to ensure clients’ needs are met.
e) In some instances access NVQ level 2 students.
OTHER TASKS OF RESIDENTIAL CARE CO-ORDINATOR:
a) Assist Service Users who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
b) Care of Service User’s hair, mouth, teeth and dentures.
c) Shave male Service Users.
d) Help Service Users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities.
e) Help care for the Service Users who are terminally ill and dying.
f) Help in the promotion of the mental and physical activity of Service Users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
g) Make and change bed.
h) Tidy rooms and cleaning.
i) Empty commodes.
j) Care for Service User’s clothing, launder and mend as instructed.
k) Set tables and trays; serve meals; prepare drinks and small snacks as required.
l) Answer emergency bells.
m) Act as escort to hospital appointments.
n) Carry out other tasks as may be allocated to you from time to time.
