JOB TITLE: Residential Care Co-ordinator
REPORT TO: Person in charge of the shift
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Manager & Director of Nursing & Care

OBJECTIVES:
The position of Residential Care Co-ordinator acknowledges the skill and professional development of the individual achieved through the successful completion of NVQ level 3 or a higher qualification.

The purpose of the Residential Care Co-ordinator is to:
✽ Assist with the care of Service Users in support of and under the direction of the Manager.
✽ Share with other members of staff to meet the personal care of Service Users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
✽ Helps in the care of the Service User’s physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities.
✽ Assists the management taking the responsibility for the management of residential clients, the organisation of the workload and supervision of junior staff.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Reading, being familiar with and following the policies of the home and Blanchworth Care.
b) Participate in research, staff meetings and in-service training.
c) Participate in and promote teamwork and good working relationships. d) Arriving on duty punctually, correctly dressed with a tidy appearance. e) Reporting to the person in charge when arriving and leaving.
f) Notifying the office of any intended absence from duty and the date of intended return as soon as practically possible.
g) Reporting all incidents and accidents involving Service Users, visitors, self or any other person as they occur.
h) Ensure the safe custody of Service User’s belongings and valuables.
i) Know and be ready to follow the correct Fire, Health & Safety and Complaints Procedures.
j) Help to provide a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for the Service User’s relatives and friends.
k) Make the most effective and economical use of all supplies and equipment.

SPECIFIC TASKS OF RESIDENTIAL CARE CO-ORDINATOR:
a) Delegated care procedures for Residential Clients to include:
(i) Administration of medication for Service Users who choose not to self medicate. (ii) Daily Record keeping & reporting.
(iii) Care Planning
(iv) Complete accident / incident reports.
(v) Complete risk assessments.
(vi) Liaise with Primary Care team & Pharmacy when necessity arises. (vii) Clinical tasks as designed by District Nurse.
(viii) Liase with the Pharmacy when necessary to ensure availiability of supplies and carry out the monthly medication order.
(ix) Supervision of allocation and appropriate use of continence products as delegated by continence advisor.
